In Scarlet Town where I was born there was a fair maid dwellin'
Made ev'ry youth cry 'Welladay';
her name was Barbara Allen.

All in the merry month of May when green buds they were
swellin'.
Young Jemmy Grove on his deathbed lay
for Love of Barbara Allen.

And death is printed on his face and o'er his heart is stealin';
Then haste away to comfort him.
o lovely Barbara Allen.

So Slowly, slowly she came up
and slowly she came nigh him;
And all said when there she came;
'Young man, I think you're dying'.

When he was dead and laid grave
her heart was struck with sorrow.
"O mother, mother, make my bed,
for I shall die tomorrow."

"Farewell." she said, "ye virgins all, and shun the fault l fell in;
Henceforth take warning by the fall of cruel Barbara Allen."

초록색 잎새들이 하나씩 떨어지느 그 계절에,
Johnny라는 한 젊은 청년이,
Barbara Allen과 사랑에 빠져 버렸었지...

어머니는 그녀에게 어서 일어나라고 재촉하네,
어서 일어나 그의 곁으로 가라고...
"어머니, 전에 저에게 했던 얘기 잊으셨어요?
그를 버리라고 말씀하셨잖아요..."

아버지도 그녀에게 어서 일어나라고 재촉하네,
어서 일어나 그의 곁으로 가라고...
"아버지, 전에 저에게 했던 얘기 잊으셨어요?
그를 차 버리라고 말씀하셨었잖아요..."

그녀는 천천히, 천천히 자리에서 일어났네,
그리고 천천히, 천천히 옷을 챙겨입었네,
그리고 천천히 그가 누워있는 침대 곁으로 다가갔네,
그리고 천천히 그를 바라보았네...

Oh, love is gentle and love is kind
사랑은 부드럽고, 사랑은 다정하죠
The sweetest flower when first it's new
처음 꽃피울 때는 가장 향기로운 꽃이지만
But love grows old and waxes cold
사랑도 나이가 들고 차갑게 식어버리다가
and fades away like morning dew
아침 이슬처럼 사라져 버리네요

There is a ship and she sails to sea
바다로 흘러가는 배가 하나 있네요
She's loaded deep as deep can be
짐을 가득 실었지만
